Scallop season to open

Scallop season is set to open in most areas Friday (check myfwc.com for boundaries). Some of the best times with the family and teaching young kids to snorkel. You can find bay scallops anywhere from 3foot and we have found them as deep as 15ft. This makes a great July 4th activity on the water almost everyone can enjoy. After catching your limit you can also go get your gag grouper; if you are into diving small rock piles in 10-25ft. There are plenty of fish off St Petersburg right now also. Depths from 80-130ft have had plenty of red snapper and red grouper. In 30-60 ft there are plenty of hogfish and gag grouper. Have a great July 4th weekend and watch those storms in the afternoon.
